Garu-chan Detective Episode 1: The Rainy Port and the Missing Milk Cans

The pre-dawn port was filled with the smell of tide and diesel. Garu-chan walked quietly on the wet pier with her child in her pouch. This morning, only milk cans for the nursery had disappeared from the warehouse. The safe and cash were untouched. The target was too strange. The caretaker pelican repeated that 'no one had entered,' but Garu-chan noticed the water marks on the floor. A trail of heavy cargo led to the back of the port. Amidst the seagulls' cries, her child giggled softly, as if saying 'over there, Mama.' The trail led to an abandoned fish market, where the stolen milk cans were neatly stacked, replaced with old powdered milk in boxes. Garu-chan sniffed the smell and checked the expiration dates. Someone had tried to switch them. 'This isn't theft; it's a disguise,' Garu-chan reported and sent the evidence to the food inspection agency. She heard footsteps behind her and used her tail to trip a Tasmanian devil transporter who was trying to escape. 'Don't profit from what goes into children's mouths.' By the time the sun rose, the real milk cans had returned to the warehouse. The case was solved, but the mastermind was still invisible. Garu-chan lifted her child out of her pouch. 'They'll make their next move. Then, I'll just find it first.'
